All Avanta Care healthcare workers receive practical training, which is delivered by our specialist in-house training team.

The course covers the crucial knowledge we believe every healthcare worker should possess. We also promote values essential to any productive workplace like equal opportunities, co-operation and diversity.

Care Certificate training course

To achieve outstanding care for patients, we have fully adopted the Care Certificate standards into our training programme.

That means you can be confident that all of our staff have the skills and knowledge needed to provide compassionate, safe and high quality care and support.

About the course

Once a candidate has passed our strict vetting and interview processes, they must attend our mandatory training course. This week-long program incorporates the 15 Care Certificate Standards, as well as the additional Moving & Handling training and a more detailed Basic Life Support training. Both these additional courses receive certification.

We have also now integrated online training in to our training course.

Course Modules:

This standard informs the carer of their main duties and responsibilities, and who you report to. All workers should know what is expected of them within the role.

Whether or not we are aware of it, we all live our everyday lives by a set of values that shape how we think and react. Values are beliefs and ideas about how people should behave which have been formed by our childhoods, families, backgrounds, cultures, religions and relationships. Whilst we each have our own values there are values which are important for working in health and social care.
Good communication develops your knowledge and understanding about individuals and the part played by other workers so that the best care and support possible can be provided. It helps build working relationships where each person’s views are valued and taken into account.

What we eat is vital to our health and wellbeing and how we look, feel and function. It is important that people have a diet that is safe to eat and has all the nutrients they need. Food safety is essential when preparing and handling food.
Whilst workers may not be working in a role that directly supports individuals with mental health conditions, dementia or disabilities, it is important to have awareness in any health or social care worker role. This is so that any signs and symptoms that are noticed are passed on to other workers, and that compassion and understanding is shown.
Adult Safeguarding is the way of working and thinking that protects adults with care and support needs from abuse, harm or neglect. Safeguarding balances the right to be safe with the right to make informed choices.
Child protection and safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: it is not only childcare workers that have a duty to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

Legislation relating to general health and safety in health and social care. The main reason for health and safety legislation is to protect people at work and those who are affected by work activities.
Confidentiality is a very important right of individuals who receive care and support. It is part of the relationship of trust that individuals have with healthcare support workers and adult social care workers.
Infection and infectious diseases in humans are caused when harmful germs, known as pathogens (orpathogenic micro-organisms), enter the body and grow. These micro-organisms are so small they can only be seen by using a microscope.
